It IS supported for windows. The Sunbird calendar plug-in has all the features I need. Works great for me since I don't need Exchange compatibility.

Still no real calendar support (there are plugins). Largely abandoned by the Mozilla Foundation. Can't speak native Exchange protocols. Probably the best of the FOSS choices, but still no match for Outlook, unfortunately. This (Exchange/Outlook competition) is the biggest Achilles' Heel in FOSS.

Another amazing piece of software from the Mozilla foundation. Like Firefox , the wide variety of plug-ins for this email client makes it very flexible and secure.

Almost everyone uses this, that's true. But there're better mail clients for when you have a choice.

Threads aren't as nice is in Mac Mail, and XUL is weird on OS X.

Works great even on large mailboxes if you chose the auto-compact option! The best mail client out there IMHO

Works great, performance on very large mail boxes degrades a bit.

It's great for handling few-thousand-posts mailing-lists and/or newsgroups. Filters work well.

Thunderbird is slow and lacks integration with the rest of the desktop. Give KMail a try.

I've been using Thunderbird a long time, and it's always held up great for large volumes of email. Thanks to IMAP it fully interfaces with gmail.
