eMule is one of the most popular peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing clients. The client connects to both the eDonkay and Kad networks, and facilitates direct exchange of sources between client nodes. It provides fast recovery of corrupted downloads, and uses a credit system to reward frequent uploaders. eMule transmits data in zlib-compressed form to save bandwidth.
aMule is a free peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing application. It works with the EDonkey and Kad networks. aMule stands for all-platform Mule. aMule is an eMule-like client for the eD2k and Kademlia networks, supporting multiple platforms. Currently aMule (officially) supports a wide variety of platforms and operating systems, being compatible with more than 60 different hardware+OS configurations. aMule is entirely free, its sourcecode released under the GPL just like eMule, and includes no adware or spyware as is often found in proprietary P2P applications. aMule is built upon the wxWidgets (formerly wxWindows) toolkit, which enables it to support multiple platforms.
Shareaza is a peer-to-peer client for Windows that allows you to download any file found on the EDonkey2000, Gnutella, BitTorrent, and Gnutella2 (G2) P2P networks. Not only that, but Shareaza is completely FREE and won't show any annoying ads or pop-ups. It won't install any unwanted third party programs that can wreak havoc with your computer. No spyware, no registration, no "paid version". Just download and use. Simple.
MLDonkey is a multi-network, multiplatform peer-to-peer file sharing program. MLDonkey has been developed since January 2002 [1] and has been hosted by http://savannah.nongnu.org, a development site for free software that is not part of the GNU Project, since Feb. 19, 2002. It was started by Fabrice Le Fessant and Simon Patarin who work at INRIA to prove the capabilities of the Ocaml language. MLDonkey was originally intended as a pure eDonkey2000 clone, running on Unix and Linux, a sector that the original client never served well. Since the release of version 2, there has also been development to access other networks, most notably the eDonkey2000 offspring Overnet, BitTorrent, Kademlia and DirectConnect.
